Writers' workrooms

It is interesting to see how some writer's desks deliberately face a window, while others have a blank wall in front - distractions? Also how many are clearly in attic spaces, presumably away from the main flow of the house.

My old room resembled Russell Hoban's workspace. David Hare's workroom is more how mine should look.

I've seen a few of these in the Saturday Guardian - now they're doing artists' studios. Fascinating!
