I'm teaching sashiko workshops both at Quiltfest next month and some of the national UK quilt shows in 2013.
Quiltfest - we are running BOTH Quiltfest workshops on the Saturday at the Royal International Pavilion, Llangollen. My workshop is 'Sashiko for Summer' (one of the designs is shown above) and Magie Relph is teaching her popular 'African Jazz' workshop (we had hoped to fit in a workshop with Magie when she exhibited as part of Quiltfest 2012, but we just couldn't fit it in). All the booking info is on the Quiltfest website pages - click here to go to the main webpage and select 'workshops' from the list on the right.
At the Spring Quilt Festival in Edinburgh next month, Quilts UK at Malvern in May and the Great Northern Quilt Show at Harrogate, I am teaching a new one hour workshop -'Sashiko in Circles'
Many Japanese 'hitomezashi' (one stitch sashiko)
patterns can be turned round in circles and curves for your own innovative
designs. Learn how to make your designs go in circles and start a sampler
panel. Workshop kit includes an eighth of sashiko fabric, hand dyed perle
threads and worksheet. Hand sewing. £5.50
This unusual sashiko motif is easy to mark and
stitch, once you know how. Workshop kit includes 5in piece of sashiko fabric,
sashiko thread in a choice of colours and worksheet. Hand sewing. £2.50
The one hour workshops at the Grosvenor quilt shows must be booked on the day at the show, but we like advance booking for the Quiltfest workshops, so we know how many places to set out, how many worksheets to prepare and how much to bring by way of materials.
