Press release -
The World Textile Day team will be back in Frodsham on Saturday (28th) for another wonderful day out for everyone who loves textiles. A collection of world textile traders and collectors get together for a day in this friendly market town. As usual, there will be an exhibition of world textiles, a market place and two talks.
Diane Gaffney, one of the organisers says "There are seven World Textile Days around the country and each year we choose a theme. Our theme for 2019 is "Inspired To Create". So, our talks and exhibition will reflect the way that world textiles have inspired our guest artists to create their own work.
At 11 am Janice Gunner award winning textile artist, quilter and author will be exploring the similarities and differences between African Adire indigo textiles and Japanese Shibori. She'll be showing a selection of her award winning quilts.
At 2 pm there will be a short talk from John and Joan Fisher on the subject of the amazing Tent makers of Cairo, followed by our famous Wear and Tell session - your chance to show up wearing one of your favourite textiles and tell everyone a little about it."
The Braid Society will also be there demonstrating and showing lots of braiding techniques. So come and meet up with your textile loving friends at this small, friendly show.
The Day is open from 10 am to 4.30 pm
Entry is free and tickets for the talks (at 11 am and 2 pm) cost just £3 each or £5 for both sessions
There are refreshments available and there is plenty of free parking at the venue_ Frodsham Community Centre, Fluin Lane, Frodsham, Cheshire WA6 7QN
