"99 Treasures" and "Japanese Circles and Squares" quilt variations

Jacky Hooton showed me her cool greens version of "99 Treasures" at Chester Ps & Qs' meeting last week. It looks gorgeous with the jade green backgrounds to the applique circles. I think this is the first time I've seen a green version and it works beautifully. Jacky machine quilted it, using the shippo pattern included with the instructions, which works very well as a continuous line quilting pattern. The back is interesting too...

Heather Hassell is one of the Severn Valley Quilters, where I taught the "Japanese Circles and Squares" workshop last month. I saw her at Malvern with her completed quilt centre (click here & scroll down to see it). Now it is bordered and bound. She got the fabric at the Malvern quilt show and used the remaining pieces from the fat quarters for the binding. I love being able to use up fabrics so economically, and it's satisfying to know that all the pieces went into the quilt in one way or another - but it is still hard to believe that this is just seven fat quarters, a half metre and some feature fabric circles.

Lovely quits. Interesting to see fabrics with all the Japanese designs we use for our stitching being used in a different format. Finding your blog very interesting, you must be a very busy person. Hope the new workshop is working out.
