Vicky Coughlan's "99 Treasures" quilt

I met Vicky Coughlan at a quilt show last year and she mentioned that she was making my "99 Treasures" quilt. Here's the finished top. The reddish pink she has used for the dark squares and border is a traditional Japanse colour (I've forgotten the name right now, but it might be beni iro?) I think I spot some of Euro Japan Links' fabrics in those circles! Thanks for the photo Vicky.

Could it be called beni-murasaki?

That's an interesting link!

#640125 is approximately the colour I was thinking of (onscreen anyway) - the name there is given as "grape colour", but I know it is a different name I'm looking for. In English, it was dyed with a plant called gromwell.

ahh, 640125 says "ebiiro" in hiragana. Is it a color of shrimp??

It said "ebiiro" in hiragana, but written "budouiro" that means "grape color" in kanji.
I did not know we can read "budouiro" in kanji "ebiiro".
