At quilt shows, I often get to see interesting pieces made from my books. This time, these inclued a set of blocks from "Japanese Quilt Blocks to Mix and Match" (sorry, no photo), an almost finished quilt top from the same book, and two variations on bags from "21 Terrific Patchwork Bags" and "21 Sensational Patchwork Bags".
This is the fourth quilt I entered in the show - "The Last Samurai". The main section is an amazing cheater panel I bought online from a Japanese store. I used machine trapunto to add interest. The stripe is one of my tsumugi cottons. The circular "window" is done with Clover Quick Bias tape over part of a Kona Bay print. This year's theme was "Cherry blossoms and Maple leaves" but I wanted a darker design than something full of bright and light colours. The cherry blossoms at the top morph into maple leaves towards the bottom.

I rather like that samurai. It would be a great subject for a wholecloth, great texture.
