Website order payments

Just so you know why I ask UK buyers to send cheques and international buyers to pay by paypal -

For UK payments for items for my website, I prefer to be paid by cheque. Clearing a cheque through my business account costs 65p.

For international payments, I offer Paypal. This means I do not need to know someone's credit or debit card details, so it is more secure. It is also much cheaper than processing international bank orders or similar things. I can't cash cheques/checks in other currencies.

While Paypal is free to use for the sender, it is not free for the recipient i.e. me. Paypal charges 3.4% + 20p on every transaction. So for the same book and postage (£15.99 + 3.50 p & p), the fee is 87p.

Also, it takes Paypal 2- 3 working days transfer money to my business bank account. If I want to transfer it in 1 -2 days, it costs £5.00.

This is why I ask UK buyers to send cheques rather than using Paypal.

Hi Susan,
I'm the girl from Canada ,who asked you last week about the Japanese books. You could not get hold of me. I did send an email ,but you might not have received it. I think that this time I did it right. I still like to get hold of the 2 books.

Thanks Renske Helmuth

Hi Renske,

Thanks for leaving a comment!

Can you try e mailing again please? I'll keep an eye on my mailbox - I suspect some things have been getting sent to the Delete folder by my Spam filter, as I know I've missed a few messages (inc. an eBay second chance offer on something I was trying to win !)

If you don't hear from me in a day or two, please leave another comment - we'll get in touch by email somehow!
