World Textile Day and the return of Yuza Sashiko Guild

We are looking forward to an exciting World Textile Day at Frodsham next Saturday, with members of Yuza Sashiko Guild joining us from Japan. We will be displaying some of their latest sashiko and patchwork pieces and there will be a chance to have a go at sashiko yourself. One of the talks for the day is 'Kimono - dressing up and dressing down' with our guest Koto Domon, who will demonstrate kimono kitsuke (dressing) techniques.

Guild members are bringing some amazing new sashiko and patchwork works with them, on the theme of Maruike-sama, the beautiful blue pool at the foot of Mount Chokai.  This is one of the pieces Reiko Domon has made, combining Yuza Sashiko with batiks.  I can't wait to see these.  After World Textile Day, the quilts will be displayed at Quilts UK, Malvern, the following weekend.

Like we did at the Loch Lomond Quilt Show in 2014, we will be having a rolling 'make and take' session at World Textile Day.

The World Textile Day regulars will also be joined by shibori expert Jane Callender of Callishibori, so the day will have an extra Japanese flavour.
