Justice for Wilbur

Perhaps you have heard about this already? A pet cat was strangled and eaten alive by a neighbour's 13ft Burmese python, which had been left out and unsupervised in the neighbour's garden.

I didn't know that there were no laws or licencing in place in the UK to regulate the keeping of snakes like this as pets. They are clearly quite capable of killing other pets and small children - according to another news story on the BBC here, they are obviously able to kill toddlers without any difficulty and even adults.

Wilbur's human family, Martin and Helen Wadey, are organising a petition to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to revise the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976, to include Pythons, Boa Constrictors and any non venomous but lethal snake. If you feel that ownership and control of these snakes should be controlled, please sign the petition via their website (link above).
