The challenge quilts made by Peaceful Heart Quilt Group, "Treasures of Yamagata", have been much admired by visitors today, both for their design and the stitching skill. Here they are displayed at the show -
The quilt at the top below has a map of Yamagata prefecture stitched with various Yuza sashiko stitches. The shape of the prefecture is thought to look like a man's face in profile!
