Sashiko retreat in Maleny - Sunday and Monday

The sashiko retreat at Maleny started yesterday, with forty quilters from all over Australia. After getting started with some fans and chrsanthemums (nice and easy), we headed back to Maleny Magic Patchwork and Quilts for a barbeque at the shop. A perfect combination - a party at a quilt shop!

Today everyone has been marking and stitching various kamon crests from 'Japanese Quilt Blocks to Mix and Match' in the morning and this afternoon we will be marking and stitching shippo (seven treasures) and fundo (balance weights) patterns, using a grid and a circle template, for a taster of moyouzashi patterns.

The view from our workroom is the Glass House Mountains. Amazing!

Ann, some lovely work is being done too.

Wish I could get along to see your shop on this trip too but I am rapidly running out of time to do it. I'll have to come back!
