Fundraising for the Japan tsunami victims - in Japan

Reiko Domon, leader of Peaceful Heart Quilt Group in Yuza-machi, Yamagata Prefecture, and one of the founders of the Yuza Sashiko Guild sent me this message -

私は東日本大震災チャリティー体験教室を開催しました

I held East Japan great earthquake disaster charity experience lesson

たくさんの遊佐刺し子ファンが参加しました

A lot of Yuza Sashiko fans participated

そしてkintiyakuをつくりました

And I made kinchyaku (drawstring bags)

\60000ほどの金額が集まりました

The amounts of money approximately 60,000 yen gathered

So rather than making quilts, they have been making bags to sell for fundraising. She also told me that, at the moment, there are problems with sending things out from Tohoku, even though of course Yuza-machi is a long way from the nuclear exclusion zone around Fukushima Dai Ichi.
