Quiltfest on Saturday - Y Caban

Yesterday I saw the exhibition at Y Caban, Plas Newydd (I was stewarding there and demoing a piece of hand quilting - will be back again next Saturday). This is in two parts - 'Passage Defined' from By Design and 'Miniatures' by Sandra Goldsbrough. The selection below gives a taster of each exhibition. I have included the artists' statements above each pair of quilts in 'Passage Defined'. This is a lovely exhibition with some fantastic design work.

Sandra's miniatures are delightful seaside scenes. You may recognise her work from Quilts UK or Festival of Quilts. Her miniatures show just how well commercial fabrics can be combined with hand dyed materials when you have an eye for the right pattern and texture to convey the sense of landscape elements in a tiny scale. The quilts are displayed in glass cases so you can see the details well - unfortunately the camera isn't so good at that!

This part of Quiltfest runs until the end of the month, along with the exhibitions at the Museum, 'Carved in Cloth' and 'Trees', although the Pavilion exhibition, 'Made in Wales', closed today. Parking at Plas Newydd is free and just at the front of Y Caban.
